Thanked: 104/8, 5/8, 6/8 Differences
I'm looking to understand the "general" nuances for the different sized razors listed above. Any tips to improve shaves for each size is appreciated.
Here is why I am asking:
As a Noob, I have been shaving mostly with the 5/8 and 6/8. I sent the 5/8 out to be honed by Lynn, and it is sharp as a tack.
I have noticed that my best shaves come from the 6/8 (closest shaves, least nicks). Even the newly honed super sharp 5/8 does not shave as good (for me). The 4/8 is the the toughest, with exception of AGT on the neck, where it is surprisingly easy. Regular WTG and XTG seem to skip more than shave.

Sounds to me that you have found your niche. The only real difference in these razors are the 1/8 of an inch. Some razors due to shape, size or grind are just easier or better suited to the individual. Its all preference.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Thanked: 1195Those "general nuances" of which you speak are pretty much what sets the sizes apart, other than lather-scooping capability. The usual rules still apply: very light pressure, same angle etc. Personal preference does play a large role here, and it sounds like you've found yours.
