    Default Bad shave

Yesterday, the worst shave when I shave with a str8 . I was in a hurry, had a poor preparation and then you get a disappointing shave. Next time if I'm a hurry. Then I shave or not or I'll just be late for my appointment. I refuse to use a disposable razor when I'm late.

The whole night I felt that there was hair on my head.
No smooth skull ..... Pity and a waste of my time .

    Default five blade cheap razors

Even my worst shave with a straight was better than any disposable razor. I cannot get a decent shave with the 4 or 5 blades cheap razor, just a waste of money and time. Juan.

It's probably best to skip on a straight shave if time does not permit you to have full concentration during an entire shave. At best you will get a shoddy shave, at worst it could be a bloody massacre. JMHO.

I must agree. I keep a DE razor for just those occasions, and for when I need to shave in the morning (I normally shave at night) and may not be awake yet.

    Default Bad Shave

I'll take a bad shave with a straight razor any day and twice on Sunday over a disposable cartridge shave. I don't think you wasted your time, you just did not achieve the results you expected because you were in a hurry. I experienced something similar this morning, I was in a hurry and decided to go with a square point recently honed, my reason being a freshly honed razor will "cut" my shave time in half. In my haste, I ended up with about an inch long cut in my cheek because the square point caught me not fully concentrating on the task at hand.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

There's an old saying: "That which does not kill you makes you stronger." IMHO, the cuts and scrapes we occasionally suffer are part of the learning curve. In the end, if we're wise, we learn from our mistakes and become better shavers/people.

Yeah hope I've learned. I have once before had an hurry shave, but it was not as bad as this.
Maybe it had something to do that i have that day already had an off day.
And if one thing goes wrong then there are usually several things go wrong.(is an old Dutch saying)

Actually we should say no hurry in this world.

Something I do to save time, which I shared on another thread, is simple.

Just do a one-pass, WTG shave, and do it well. You'll look fine, only those who stroke your face will know it's not BBS. For work, school, whatever, it'll look great.

Then over lunch, another one-pass WTG shave will keep you looking fine for that purpose.

I find I can do a single-pass WTG shave carefully, without rushing, in a very brief time. I'd say 80% of a good shave is in doing the first WTG pass right.

    Default Bade Shave

    Hello, Kalerolf:

For my daily straight razor shave ritual I ignore the clock. When short on time, however, instead of spoiling the sacred ritual, I switch to a lovely double edge razor — and life floats on a gentle stream.

    Regards,
    Obie

Why wouldn't you save time and just do a two pass shave in the morning?

Sorry, but I just have to ask. I'm also trying to figure out where you're shaving at lunch time. Do you have a seperate shave den at work?
