Default My first straight razor shave

I been reading the information and "expert advice" on this forum and wanted to try straight razor shaving. I have been using a DE razor and many "shave products" for about six months, so I thought I was ready.

After playing around with a cheap "shavette" style razor I bought a Shave Ready Dovo Bismarck from Jarrod at The Superior Shave. Ordered it Friday morning and it arrived the next day - tempting me to try it Sunday morning.

After reading the advice of the "experts" here I only shaved sideburns and cheek areas first day. Seemed to go well, until I tried to switch hands - then it really got tentative. I did manage to cut whiskers and did not bleed, so I am declaring it a success!

Sounds like a success to me. Keep at it, next thing you know you'll be full shaving and wanting more razors to enjoy

    Happy Shaving

Default ya did better than I did

    Big congrats!

My first was, ah, a bit more colorful! There's a reason the username is pinklather.

'Sounds like you're off to a great start. It won't likely be an unbroken string of successes, but it probably will be the best shaves of your life. You'll find great help and great attitudes here - for which I'm still very grateful.

'Hope you enjoy the ride. It's gotta feel good to give the heave ho to the disposables. You'll also find you get way better shaves from your DE after learning the str8.

Two successes I count. First that you followed the advice given by getting a shave ready razor and just doing sideburns to jawline. Second, shaving with no blood.

You should be proud of both of these - congratulations.

Good Job. Just remember your not going to be a pro over night. It may take months to get to the point where you want to be. Dont get frustrated and enjoy the shave.

    Default Thanks

Thanks for encouragement. Someone should have warned me that RAD would kick-n after my 1st shave (I am already looking at razors for sale!)
