    Default the str8 year 2

so today marks my second year of straight razor shaving.. i started with a razor that someone gave me in a box of junk and it sat gathering dust in my shop untill one day i came across it.. hmmm maybe ill clean this puppy up and run it across the stones. needless to say i did not get it shave ready the frist time out, nick ready yes but i had a lot to learn. luckly i found this place and with the help of many good people in here i got her up and running.i was surprised at how much fun it is to scrape a silly sharp blade across your face. and i was amazed at how good a shave this 400 year old technology could provide.some 50 plus razors in my rotation now and a pile of hones more soap than i will use in my lifetime a few strops and a tree of brushs latter ( yep rad had sad and bad i got them all) maybe the highlights were the three people i infected over the last two years. the good thing abought having all these accusation dissoders is you can set up the new people with the things they are going to need to master this art. a good razor a strop brush and soap and dish and a hone. all in all its been a fine 2 years i only wish i had started sooner.

    Default The Straight Year 2

    Hello, Cutalot:

Congratulations for your dedication to the straight razor world. Obviously, you have enjoyed the past two years of shaving with the straight razor. You have bought many razors, brushes and products to spike that daily ritual of traditional shaving.

For me, this world is a sweet obsession. It seems it has become so for you, too. Well done, friend. The world of gentlemen shavers needs gentlemen such as you.

    Regards,
    Obie

Good for you! I spent the first year buying razors, soaps, and aftershaves like mad. Now, I'm focusing on refining my shave technique and honing. If there's one truth, one can focus on many different aspects and never stray far.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

Congrats, cutalot! I can relate - I just realized that I passed the 2 year mark myself, both in membership at SRP and in SR shaving.

    Cheers,

    Ryan

Completing 2 years. Not every day is perfect, but I can get no better shave with any other type razor. While I've developed a pattern and preferences, I still find surprises. That Kent B4 that I thought was too floopy....what a spectacular brush. Just different from my other stiffer spectacular brushes. Taking time to discover the nuances in blades, soaps, scents..... Best to all and congrats on your anniversary. Jim
