Moles.
How do you deal with your facial moles? I've seen a vid or two where it appears as if the person is straight shaving right over them without harm. I've got one on my cheek and one just under my chin and I've just been avoiding them. Although I know how to ever-so-slightly lift one corner of a D/E to miss them as I do a pass, I've been unwilling to even try gliding a straight razor over them, but it sure seems to be a non problem on those vids.
What do you do? [1]
[1] The questioner understands responders are not responsible if they say it's "not a problem" and the OP proceeds to slice one completely off and bleed out all over the floor, causing him to slip and bang his head, killing himself instantly.Last edited by mbaglio100; 11-27-2010 at 06:35 AM. I have 1 small mole that is just barely in my beard growth area near the bottom of ear/sideburn area. I generally just go over it and it's fine, although I've definitely nicked it before. If you don't like the moles then maybe it's a good excuse to see the dermatologist? Then again, if you do like them, then I would base my decision on how far out of your skin the moles go. If they're relatively flat or just plain small, then I would say it's "not a problem." If they seem to be fairly large then I would avoid them. If they're in a middle ground and you don't mind risking some bloodshed, maybe you should just try it out one Saturday morning and go for it. If it bleeds/hurts then don't do it again; if it's fine then you're in the clear!
At least it will be instantaneous...

Thanked: 983I think mine, just on the side of my chin, has learned to stay undercover after all these years of shaving right over the top of it. It isn't a problem...Most of the time. Sometimes, for whatever reason, it seems to stick up that marginally bit taller. Those days it gets another warning to stay down.

I have a mole right next to my chin, and I always used to cut it open when I shaved with the Mach 3. I was terrified with the straight razor, but I've never cut it. You'll be fine.
But don't sue me if you bleed out.

Gingerly, gingerly... so far, so good.
Well, I've been trying to glide the razor over the moles, and no bleeding so far.
I figure I'll cut one open the first time I don't have time to deal with the bleeding as I'm late getting out the door...
But, so far, so good.
Thanks everyone.

I have one mole on my sideburn that gets hooked with the str8 on a regular basis. I just let the sideburns grow down to cover it. as for the others I found that once I grew a pair and cut them off they never caused problems again, of course I do have one that will only catch a little and rarely, but I just live with it. I decided that shaving cuts are much cleaner than those I would get at work each day so I didn't care.

Sorry, more referencing my own inability to overcome the fear.

Thanked: 5I have quite a few moles on my face, still pretty new but so far I just glide over them. My first shave I did nick a few of them but it would seem that was more due to technique then anything since as I have gotten better I dont nick them anymore.
