What is the deal with this?
I saw this on eBay, and am not quite sure what to make of it. It says barbers razor, but doesn't look like any type of razor I've seen.

I'm new to this whole thing, and am looking to learn a little bit.

Re: What is the deal with this?
I suspect it's a folding knife with a blade in the style of a razor rather than something you would actually shave with. The description includes the lines
" High Quality & Rugged All Stainless Steel Knife
Blade: Stainless Steel Razor Style Blade "
I certainly wouldn't put it anywhere near my face.
Cheers, Malcolm

That's what I figured, but I was thrown off a bit by the style. Thanks.

A newbie here was suckered into one of those. He thought he could shave with it until the folks here told him to get a real str8.

Looks like a squared off pocket knife, like a really bad variation on a tanto blade.

Thanked: 2About a year ago, I was much more into buying on ebay and would look up "mother or pearl, straight razor" almost every day, hoping to pick up a good old MOP razor. Every time I checked, there would be a dozen of those knives, with MOP scales, all prices at around $1. They were described as "razor like knives" but I don't really see the point of them. A good razor won't really do a knives work and a good knife won't really do a razors work, so why combine them?
The only person I can think of who would shave with one of those is Gramps, from SMF.

Maybe they want the razor effect not for shaving, but more along the lines of box-cutters or carpet knives.
