I saw something similar on another post and I can't help wondering...how in the world did you get such a long cut?

For all the newbies out there what I thought would be obvious is when you see blood or feel pain...STOP moving the razor.

Oh boy, because even with a stroke of moderate speed, with a really sharp razor one doesn't necessarily start feeling pain until the end. Then a moment later... ouch!

That's probably it then...I've honed my own razors so they are pretty dull and I immediately feel the pain. The worst cut (knock on wood) I've got so far has been around 1/8 long.

Having learned on spikes and square points, it's the round points that give me the most problems. Not knowing where that edge is and trying to push the tip to far due to the over hang from the tip... feels like I'm trying to stick the razor in my ear sometimes...

Think of that cut as an opener for starting a straight razor discussion :P

The only real issue I've had with a spike is a red Imp which has an exaggerated spike and the first time I used it I wound up not with cuts but just these longitudinal red streaks down my neck in 2 or 3 places. They disappeared in a couple days and there was no bleeding but....

Ooo, that's gotta hurt. I'm thankful that's never happened to me and my spike.

    Default actually..

I did it on an up-stroke second pass. I thought I was in the clear. The other thing is, I sprained my right shoulder last week, and I had my elbow braced against my chest because I didn't have the strength to hold the razor properly. **** happens. I'm old, nobody looks at me anyway.

Sorry about that. I sometimes have trouble at the side of my neck. I started adjusting the angle and it seems to be working.
