    Default Well I must say...

Three weeks ago when I met Scrapcan he was kind enough to hand me a few choices of straights...

Two were shave ready while the others he gave me to fool around with.

Up to that point I had been buying a few here and there to make my collection.

Yesterday he sent me an email asking if I had jumped into my first straight save yet... My answer was "NO", but I had lined my jawline for my beard.

So this morning... It was time...

I headed to the bath with my mug, cream, straight and DE.

I took a quick hot shower, jumped out and stood in front of the mirror.

I guess I did something right, I placed a small dab of cream in my mug while my brush soaked, and added a dab of body wash (I've been out of shave soap)... Whipped it until it became whipped cream... Probably the best consistency yet...

Now... I will admit that to hold a VERY sharp piece of steel at your throat is... Scary...

I started lining my jawline again, shallow strokes... When I was done, it was time to go further down...

My neck ended up smooth, but I didn't want to push my luck so I cleaned up with my DE...

15 hours later, it still feels like it did when I finished...

So I guess you can call this my first real straight shave, and I kept my head on my shoulders...

I remember that from my first time. IMHO, it is the worst part of learning to shave with a straight.

15 hours later, it still feels like it did when I finished...
And this is one of the best parts. I've never gotten as close of a shave, which lasts so long as I have with a straight.

I had no idea this was where you were at with a straight. I'm going to send you a PM.

Where did you think I was? I try and take in all the information in and check my insurance policies before I jump in...

OK, in that case I will re-cycle the joke that I read repeatedly when I joined
    SRP.
Make sure that you have a recent photo so that you have something to provide to the plastic surgeon after your first shave!

    Default Now the Nose knows

    Nose, Big Grats!

Yes it's scary the first time. Anyone who says otherwise is in a coma or lying. But you did it. And maybe even better - you now know what it feels like, and what long lasting smoothness is left behind. I doubt you'll want to give up that quality smoothness, and you're off to the best shaves of your life. Think of it as a quality fetish. Since the novelty wore off as a teen, shaving has been a PITA ever since. Now, it's more of an event & high point of the day. I hope you enjoy the ride. You'll find lots of help here for the speedbumps. 'Glad you got to experience the good result.

I figured it was time, even if it was only the neck...

I've been running with you guys for a few months now... So it was time... I went to my first meet in November, listened and learned... Tried a few different things over the past months with my DE... Maybe I should knock on wood that my second time goes as good, if not better...

I've discovered how ARKO shave cream is suppose to be used... I still have a lot of learning to do... Baby steps I guess...

    Congrats, Nose.

Seems that your 1st shave with straight was fine. Remember that it is even getting better as you get used to it. Way to go !!!
