    Default The Comfort Zone

    Hey Guys

So I have been feeling really comfortable with my blades for quite awhile now but really never thought about it before today when with out meaning to I did my actual shave, 3 passes, in about 6-8 min. I really only know that it only took me that long because of the good old price is right. When I started to shave they had just started the showcase show down and when I finished the lead into the next show was just beginning. How it happen I think was I just let my hands do what they had been trained to do with minimal thought about what I was doing. Don't get me wrong I was certainly thinking about my shave and technique and nothing else but I wasn't completely focusing on it either. I was really just enjoying the shave. It also turned out to be one of the best shaves I have had in a month with only a couple weepers which are common where they happen since I started shaving in the first place.

So I guess I learned today sometimes you just got to get your mind out of the way and let your hands do there work. And I defiantly feel like I hit a new comfort zone today.

I think that experience is a result of lots of work on technique just falling into place. Congratulations!

    3 passes in 6 - 8 minutes?

Congratulations on hitting your stride and feeling comfortable with it!

I'm nowhere near getting the job done that fast!

Still new to using a straight razor, I have to fight the tendency to re-attack difficult spots several times, especially on the first pass. This wastes time and baits razor burn. I've found that if I just let the razor do its job, and not "over think" the whole process, I finish quicker and the quality is acceptable.

Congrats, but please keep in mind that confidence + complacency can equal worse cuts than you had when you first started. It always happens just when you think you have it all nailed down.....

+1 to Ryan82. As I started reading your post I thought "Oh no, this will end badly." I'm so glad it didn't.

Congrats on the joy of doing something so comfortably.
