"Objects in Mirror are...
Closer than they appear"...
Well I've been using the straight for just over a month now and having fun doing it.
However, I have noticed that when changing hand positions with the razor that I'm not quite getting it far away from my neck before I go back to the shave... When looking in the mirror, it looks like the razor is far enough from my neck.
Today was the worst of my two "Throat Slitting"... About 1" long right across the Jugular area... Good thing I had no pressure on the blade...
So I finished the shave, applied some TP to the cut and applied Witch Hazel...
So... I guess I need to be more conscious of where my blade is compared to what it looks like in the mirror...
Any other stories like this?Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated...

I've bumped the mirror a couple of times while trying to get close enough to watch an individual whisker's demise, but I was fortunate enough to escape unscathed

Try not to rely on the mirror so much. In the end it's more a feel thing anyway.

Agreed.
I won't claim to have never cut myself but I have found the way you hold the blade and how you put it against your skin has a lot to do with how bad the inevitable nicks/cuts are. A drag across while the blade is down or having some side to side motion while placing the razor can really open you up, heh.
