no more fusion
so today was the first day shaving wtg and xtg and in some areas atg without my Gillette fusion. Normally its the straight wtg and then switch to the fusion to finish. but not today! There were a couple nicks xtg and one area of light irritation atg and not totally bbs but close enough to start! Practice will make smoothest!

Congrats
Congrats,
I'm pretty new myself and have just been adding some XTG and ATG in some areas. It's pretty satisfying to see progress in your technique (and much better shaves). Unfortunately, I had to send my only straight out to be professionally honed. Can't wait to get it back but in the meantime it's all DE all the time.
Again cheers on the experimentation with different passes!

Yeah its very satisfying when it all starts coming together.
Because of my early start to the day I was only using my straight at weekends but I was missing it and the practice needed to progress.
I decided to hurry up the prep a little by lathering straight to my face instead of a bowl and stropping before I go to bed and when I come home from work.
The extra shaves are paying off and I can get a nice smooth single pass shave (without the chin area) and havn't had a cut or nick for over a week.
I am trying a few ATG passes at weekends and thats going well too.
Still looking forward to the first BBS!

interesting idea...
I too started lathering directly to my face...I'm not sure it saves me ton of time but I certainly enjoy the sensation.
I usually shave at night to ensure I can take it DEAD SLOW, it isn't perfect but the shave is still presentable for work in the morning. I think I might try your suggestion of stropping at "off times" if anything it might help to strop more carefully instead of trying to rush through it in anticipation of the shave.

Thanked: 5Congrats!
I started with the straight very recently as well, and have early starts in the morning. I would prefer to shave in the morning, but in order to take my time and enjoy the shave I have been doing it at night.
I don't have to be all that clean shaven for work, but I would say I am still more than presentable in the morning - better than I would be with my disposable. Pretty satisfying to not have to use the disposable anymore eh?
