Thanked: 1Shave #7
And it keeps getting better I still get a little burn in areas that seem not to shave away easily that I have to go over. under and around the chin I take fractions of an inch at a time and it works well. Under the nose improving also. As always I use the wool fat soap and I am now using Dr.Harris after shave milk. My face still feels a little dry for a day or so after shaving is this typical what is a good remedy for this? Anyway I look foward to shaving it has become a relaxing and enjoying thing to do.

Have you tried a different soap. I know there are plenty of guys who swear by MWF and I am not here to knock it, but I would advise giving another quality soap a try. By now you are getting the hang of it, there may still be some technique issues, but they should be minor. I would suggest something with some glycerine. Maybe add some glycerine to the MWF and see what happens. The glycerine should give you a little more "glide" or lubricity between the blades edge and the skin. You may also want to invest in some skin balm with aloe, that should relieve the razor burn after the fact, hopefully the glycerine will relieve it before it happens.

Thanked: 1263Sounds like you're getting the knack of it...keep it up Remember to use little to no pressure and that should help the razor burn as well, especially on the areas you have to go over to touch up.

Thanked: 1195I'm surprised to hear that MWF and DR Harris milk is making your face dry. Did you have dry skin issues to begin with? Those are both great products, especially the lanolin in the MWF, that should make your skin feel very moisturized. In any event, some members here came up with a combo called the lanolin explosion, I found the thread for you to review: http://straightrazorpalace.com/soaps...-real-mwf.html. This should take care of dry skin

Thanked: 1Thanks all for the good advise I will check out that review on the lanolin. My face has never felt dry before even in winter even tho my hands chap badly. Could it be mild razor burn or something else like just getting used to the razor? I do have a tub of glycerine based soap I will try it too. Thanks again

A good ASB e.g. Caswell-Massey Number Six would probably reduce the burn.
Use little or no pressure on the razor while you shave and watch your angles.
