Would have been perfect, except.....
So everything was going great this morning. I'm cruising along with my Eyre 4/8 round tip, plowing through a nice fluffy layer of Proraso. WTG, great! XTG, spectacular! ATG, impressive! I moved into touch up phase and thought "This is a damn near perfect shave. Nearly BBS and no damage." No sooner did those words flash through my mind, it happened
Right side of the neck about 1" under where the jawbone curves. It was bad enough that I had to slap a Band Aid on it so I wouldn't bleed on my shirt collar. Apparantly I can't even talk to myself while shaving without bad stuff happening.
On the other hand, I got to try my Ogallala Bay Rum AS for the first time (ordered the 5 pack sampler). Great stuff! Excellent scent and just the right amount of burn

Nicks and cuts are just signposts on the way to improvement.

LAsoxfan--
Don't feel bad. It looks like I'm about a month behind you in experience and somedays I can be almost asleep and get a decent shave--usually not--
Most commonly, for me, I'm in big trouble if I let my mind wander at all.

Thanked: 4these things happen
Join the club! I just nicked my face this morning and had to get out the styptic. I've made enough BIG mistakes that I have a few visible scars on my face. These things happen and I consider the scars 'character'

Thanked: 235Talking and shaving don't mix. The razor demands perfect silence apart from the sounds of steel razing through whiskers.

Your not alone only this Sunday i sat down for a nice quite shave, wanted to try out some new Shave Oil half way through i started wondering where the blood was coming from then i spotted a 1 inch cut on my cheek just above the jaw line.
appears that either my mind wandered or i was getting a little too big for my shaving boots so the razor decided to point out it was boss and i needed to focus more.
I've also worked out that having shaving foam in a cut does not burn anywhere near as much as those stypic pencils... no matter how much i prepare to use one it always makes me cringe, but all being fair there really good at there job.

Although I haven't cut my self bad lately, I still keep band aids in the drawer. Big ones and small ones. Hang in there.

Styptic pencils have kept me alive. The pain that they bring is negative reinforcement. Put your pencil out on the counter before you shave so it'll be ready and as a reminder of what you are about to do to yourself.
