I tried a Norelco years ago. My dad has used one for ever. He loves it. I think it should be called a "pull and tear" razor. I gave it to my brother who was in college at the time. It went through atleast three guys that I know of. No one liked it. Wonder if it ever found a home?

JD--first of all welcome to SRP and remember that patience and practice will lead you to some great shaves, so don't get discouraged.
As to the bumps on your neck--your old razors pull on the whiskers and then cut/tear them off. A lot of guys have sensitive necks and I would bet that with a good high quality shaving soap/cream that over time with your str8 razor you will have less irritation and therefore far fewer bumps.
I have seen the same problem and when I dumped the multi-blade cartridges and switched back to a double edge years ago, the problem went away after a few months. Since I started with the str8 razors my problem has been cutting myself, but not neck bumps.
I would also suggest a good quality after shave balm instead of anything with alcohol for awhile untill your skin heals and gets used to the str8.
