    Default Shumate first shave

I got my $5 antique store shumate back from honing today and IT WAS NICE. I have shaved a couple of times with a "Magic razor" with disposable blades and it cant compare to the real thing. With the shumate i got exactly zero cuts or nicks and a much closer shave than with the magic razor (which was also shredding my face). The shave isnt baby butt smooth but i imagine it will get a lot closer with time and practice. I want to thank everyone on the site for all the help and information. Nun2sharp was especially helpful and did a great job with my razor.

They're grossly underestimated. Ask any owner. 'Comparable to Genco, Henckels.

Congrats on first shave! I'm new to SR shaving too (about a month in), just be patient and vigilant and better results will come by themeselves.

That sounds like a great first experience
The smoothness of a properly honed straight is unrivaled in the shaving world.
And the best part is that it will get even better

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....
