    Default First Straight Shave

Well, I suppose "real" straight shave.

I bought a blade off Dylan, an "Original Rifle Razor". It came shave ready, so I gave it a couple passes on the strop and went for it.

It was different to the shavette I had been using, almost easier. But I only did two passes WTG to get a feel for it. Didn't cut myself and the after shave didn't really sting. I did notice tugging, but i'll try some scything techniques to alleviate that.

I also picked up a Norton 4/8k stone to keep the edge on it.

I am looking forward to tomorrow.

Lots of first shaves here today. Congratulations on a good start. I've wondered often how many guys don't make it to shave #2, but it looks like you will for sure.

A very good start it seems
    Congrats on that.
What you are describing sounds just like what I experienced when starting out.
The Feather DX felt sharper in the beginning.
Once I learned the straight, I figured out the difference, technique!
Keep at it, you will get there in a flash

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

    Thumbs up Congratulations!

It is always good to hear of successful first shaves. It took me about 100 shaves before I felt I was controlling the outcome of the shave. It is a very rewarding experience to successfully shave with a straight razor.

I wish you well on your journey.
