    Default First straight shave tonight

    I tried using a straight razor for the first time tonight
    it went really well, no blood letting.
    i didnt touch the left side of my neck yet, did my sideburns, and right side of my neck (i am right handed) and finished up with a gillette fatboy (learned wet shaving with this). i was happy with the quality of the shave i got with it overal;

    Thumbs up Congratulations!

    I was glad to see your post. Starting slow and building your technique is the way to go. IMO, combining the straight with your DE is a good way to start. I just finished my fourth month and I still occasionally will do my third pass (ATG) with a DE just because I find it easier and more comfortable.

    Congratulations on your success.

    Congratulations!
    It's so nice to see someone starting out with a positive experience
    Great stuff, I'm sure your DE shaving experience really paid off!
    Keep at it, you are gonna get super smooth shaves in no time at all.

    I recall you just described finding this one among four razors on a recent trip. Did you hone or strop this one?

    That sounds like a pretty good start.

    strop, surprisingly enough, that was all it needed and it did quite well
    i knew i should probably get it honed, and i will (get all of mine honed)
    but this one seemed to be fine (i found out by shaving an arm, a habit i formed from sharpening knives)
    it will be sent out with the others when i get them honed
    it actually surprised me, since it wasn't honed
