Thanked: 0how many passes do you make before getting close enogh shave?
how many passes do you make before getting close enogh shave?
I need to go over same area on my face 2 -3 times before it gets acceptable in closeness but still could even be closer.I don't like that because it causes some irritation and razor burn but if I do not do it like this I don't get close enough of a shave.
Do most of you use long strokes or multiple smaller strokes.I do some of each but find shorter, smaller strokes is more effective.

Thanked: 18I do a two-pass shave + touch-ups, normally. Occasionally I do a three-pass, but that's only because I haven't shaved for a while.

Thanked: 983Two pass, varying strokes, some short, some long, buffing and for want of better choice of words, a slicing stroke. Depends on the area of the face I happen to be on at the time.
Use what works for you. The quality of shave improves with practice, and just going by the limited information of your post count, I'm thinking you haven't been at it for all that long.

Thanked: 46I usually did two passes and touch up with water only and that's enough for close shave. Ocasionally I did ATG pass with water only and in that case I got BBS shave.

At the core of this question is "What is close enough?"
I've had days with nothing of importance on the horizon, and, for me, one WTG pass was fine. There are other days when I want to see what can be achieved with a straight razor, and, on those days it's WTG and ATG plus touch-ups. I rarely do an XTG pass, and I don't really know why.

Two passes here. One WTG and then one ATG. On occasion, I do three passes: two WTG and then one ATG. However, that is only when I have time and feel like indulging myself.
