I had the same technique with electrics. The reason I started looking into straights was that last summer was coming up and I was going to start sweating. The hair becomes more difficult to cut and the sweat is an additional irritant. I don't use anything for touchups either, don't save much time in comparison to a DE and I find the straight shaving experience MUCH more satisfying.
