Beard training... Sure I use a whistle that even dogs can't hear. That and a rolled up news paper!

In 3.5 years of straight shaving, my beard is just as tough, unruly & fond of growing @ awkward angles as it ever was. In the words of our favorite Discovery Channel debunkers: "Busted!"

Spend some time mentally documenting the required shave direction for each part of your face. Most likely, if you remain diligent and open minded, you'll find that you can get a straight razor to go in any direction you desire. It might look awkward or down right strange, but that is why this isn't a spectator sport.

+1. It wasn't until I started using only a straight every day that I *really* learned my face... my shaves improved dramatically once I did. It took a couple of months to figure everything out, but was well worth the effort! BBS is easily achievable now.

My beard has been trained to fall off and play dead when the razor comes.

I could see one's skin getting used to the extra exfoliation of a straight razor, but I don't think it has anything to do with the beard itself.

I'm trying to train my skin not to bleed by torturing it with Styptic pencil. So far the jury is out and so is the Styptic pencil.

Well I've a genetic predisposition towards blood clotting, and although that means I am at higher risk of DVT and other nasty things the plus side is that I don't bleed for long when I nick myself.
