    Default Designing Rockets...

So I finally found some time on my hands the other night (missis was away) I decided to see what this 'science' was all about. Picked some razors out of my current inventory (see my thread in show and tell) and grabbed the 1k/4k/8k set.

Now I am a complete noob when it comes to anything honing related (only done it once before) but I took all of the 'simple' advice that was on here (especially http://straightrazorpalace.com/general-razor-shaving-related-discussion/69973-henckels-knock-offs-rocket-science.html#post791297 ).

Made sure the bevel was at least straight (some straight laps) then Glenns 20 circles to sharp and a dozen strokes again all on the 1k. Moved to the 4k with 30 strokes, then onto the 8k with 30 laps as well, with the last ten getting progressively lighter. I used the 'torque' principle the whole way through. Did 10 laps on CrOx (back side of the filly), 50 on linen and 120 on the filly.

Took the Gotta to the den, lathered up and proceeded to encounter heaven....
So smooth, my previous attempt was put to shame. I have had issues is the past with irriation from disposibles but I would happily shave with this for the rest of my life. Now I don't have a blade to compare this with (i.e. professionally honed) I think this it's pretty good. I mean, if it shaves, doesnt pull or cause irritation that's what we are all aiming for...

    Cheers

    Congratulations!
Getting your razor to comfortable shaver on first attempt, well done!
On not knowing what you should strive to achieve; there is a learning curve, and your shaves are going to get (even) better.
But does it really matter so much when you get to start from great anyways
