Default shaving with your wrist or arm?

dear Sirs, curious how much you use your wrist or keep it stiff and move only your arm? i find that to keep my angle consistent i have to move only my arm but if i'm not paying attention i use only my hand/wrist which i find a more natural movement. also which provides the better shave in your opinions? thanks...

Mainly wrist action. Offers better control of the razor's movements.

Arm as much as possible and wrist as little as possible.

Arms mostly for gross areas and wrists and fingers for more detailed work. Unless of course you shave with your feet and then I guess you use your toes and ankles.

A little wrist action is helpful, if your comfy with it. Better shave? Probably not.

I tend to use both equally much.
It very much depends on what area, grip and stroke I'm using at any given time.

That's an interesting question, I had to ponder it for a while. I believe I am using arm for movement, and hand/wrist for adjusting the angle and pressure.

Same as spendur: Arm for gross areas such as cheeks and neck, wrist for smaller, detailed areas. Little to no arm movement for the upper lip. Also, I would think you'd have to use alot more of the wrist for scything motions with the blade. Interesting topic, to say the least.

    A combination of both.

'Advanced' strokes like the 'scythe' require some wrist motion, but I find that I use either arm or wrist action at various points around my face.

You just need to work out what technique/strokes are required for various parts of your face. What's required will vary from person to person. Have fun experimenting - that accounts for a lot of the fun in this hobby.
