My daily shaves are really good now !
Hello all fellow straight razor shavers .
I have been at this for almost three months now , and feel that
my technique , is now much better . So to all you newbies , stay
focused and don't let the frustrations put you off ( remember
there are no prizes for fastest , least amount of hair on face or
other ideas ) try to enjoy the process too .
I also found that sticking with one razor for a week or ten days , and the
same for soap/cream and brush - cuts down on the variables.
So it feels really great to have developed some skill and confidence
using a straight razor .
Also of utmost importance , is the stripping . Took me a bit longer
to get that feel too . Once you can tell how the razor drags
on the leather , when it is ready - your good to go .
Thanks to this site and numerous individuals for their posts
and wisdom of their experiences - good and bad !
Cheers ,
ScottMirthing my way through life .

Congratulations. I think stripping is an important part of the shave although I sometimes keep my pants on.

I heartily agree. I just passed the six month mark and it suddenly dawned on me that it doesn't matter which razor I use, I can get a DFS virtually all the time. It is finally becoming second nature to use a straight razor.

Congrats! I strongly agree with lowering the number of variables and learning to read the strop. Straight shaving is obnoxiously easy, once you've got it down. It's so easy, that I suspect the ease of it is one of the hurdles in figuring it out.

M-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --
