Do you get a good shave?
Sometime back I did a survey concerning how sharp you thought your razor was. This time we all want to know how good a job you do wielding that chunk of steel.
We'll exclude those tiny areas you might have some issues with or that rare nick you get.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I admitted in the other poll that my honing leaves something to be desired. But I've found that great technique and knowing the contours and hair growth on my face, I can get away really good with edges that aren't at the ultimum of sharpness. I'd say that 8 out of ten shaves are super smooth with no irritation at all. The other 2 times out of ten usually boils down to stupidity on my part.

I am happy to state that thanks to the great members here over the past year or so I have found that my shaves are very consistent and great. I only have occasional stubble for a third pass and a very rare nick from exhaustion and stupidity.

Thanked: 1371I voted for the first and last one. If I shave WTG, ATG I can get smooth with no burn or sting from my aftershave.
Lately I've been doing 2x ATG. That gets really smooth and gives a nice burn; it doesn't seem right to me if aftershave doesn't burn. It's not the intense burn that I get from a dull DE blade, but a nice mid-level burn that tightens the skin and leaves me feeling refreshed. That, to me, is the perfect shave.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

I went with #2 but fall between #1 & #2. Get really consistant decent shaves with minor burn depending on how much I rush. If I'm in the "zone" and really have the time to putz around with the shave...then they are pretty close to perfect.

I'm with you on the aftershave - if you don't know you've put it on, what's the point?
I get a DFS, don't have alum, don't get roadrash, and my category doesn't seem to be on the list.

Thanked: 46I'm similar. Today's shave was perfectly acceptable by my standards with only a little roughness on my "problem areas" which I'm getting better at gradually. No redness, no nicks or weepers but then I only use aftershave when I want the extra scent. Normally I'm just using witchhazel. I've never had a shave with anything, cartridge, foil electric, rotary electric or straight razor where I didn't feel something when I splashed on the aftershave.

Thanked: 2Even though I answered on it I dont think my exact answer is on the poll. I'm getting pretty good at shaving my face but shaving my head is a whole other story. I dont get any nicks or razor burn but stubble is a pain in the rear to get rid of up there. It is getting better with each shave though.
