    Default Delayed Gratification Technique

I've been meaning to try this for several weeks but just can't seem to skip days as a shave just seems to be an indispensable part of the day. What I'd like to do one week is just shave on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The idea of course is that there will be more stubble to mow if I only shave three times a week. Work won't have a problem with it but as previously mentioned, the problem with this will probably be entirely mine. Today's 3 pass Fatboy shave was epic and 12 hours later I can barely feel any stubble, let alone see any. This week I'll try not to shave on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. I've done a touch up hone on my Boker Red Injun as well as my C.V. Haljestrand Mk4. They're both ridiculously sharp and will be my razors du jour on Tuesday and Thursday. Of course Tuesday and Thursday's shaves will both be luxurious 3 pass Hollywood shaves.

I'll try and get through this week on only three shaves. We'll see how it goes.

I know what you mean: it is difficult for me not to shave every day as well. It feels like there is something I missed...

Let us know if three shaves is going to "cut" it. Heh.

    Unhappy

Two different times! I tried skipping a day and hated the feeling of not having shaved. If I don't shave everyday, the sun, moon, and stars will become misaligned.

Your will power is much greater than mine!

Yeah, I'm not sure how this is ultimately going to work out. I'm pretty sure tomorrow's shave will be glorious but like you guys, I'm just not feeling the Don Johnson/George Clooney stubble beard. The evening stubble isn't really that bad but I just feel like something isn't right, this afternoon at work I felt like I had gone and ran several miles at the gym and came back to work without a shower. Without a clean shave, I just don't feel presentable out in public anymore. SWMBO is apparently not feeling the every other day shave either.

Besides, I'm a creature of habit and an indispensible part of my routine was omitted this morning. It just didn't feel right.

    Hello 1OldGI,

I have spent a life at sea; and there are times when shaving was out of the question; like going through a Cat5 Cyclone (Hurricane) and you can't stand up without holding on for four days (let alone sleep) so after the tempus the first shave is something that is really enjoyed.

    Gentlemen:

I shave seven days a week. Short of unforeseen circumstances, such as the world coming to an end, I never go without the daily shave. It's not because I have to for my job — I work from my home office and am my own boss. It's because of the overwhelming joy the morning shave brings into my life. I's now close to 5 p.m. here in the province and I can't wait till morning comes so that I can lather, strop a razor, and float into my private shaving universe.

    Regards,

    Obie

This sounds like a misguided effort although based in sincerity, fundamentally flawed in principle. Because shaving is good for you. Putting it off doesn't increase anything besides your misery. Your subsequent shave will be one of relief rather than one of glory - is that what you want? Are you a man or a mouse? Shave and don't look back!

Or you can continue on this destructive path and end up tripping over your own beard one morning wondering what went wrong. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I am currently having to shave on the same Sunday-Tuesday-Thursday schedule due to the heat and humidity here. I have sensitive skin and if I shave every day while its this hot I get horrible heat rash. I can't wait for cooler temps so that I can shave everyday again.

Its heaven to shave a 3+ days stubble. I have the biggest grin while stropping the straight razor. I have shaved everyday for work and I enjoyed that as well.

My problem was only being able to shave once/day. 'Switched to a single pass shave, hoping I'd have something to test edges with in the evening, but the single pass got so good there's nothing to shave at night.

'Have 3 blades beckoning from this evenings work. A pretty little Torrey, A Wade & Butcher 'Special' (very hollow), and a W & B 1/4 grind. I'm not big on sheffields, but keep hoping one will feel good enough to keep.

When you run out of things to shave - don't eye the dog - he'll run away.

'Hope all is very well, GI
