My wife has mentioned that it takes me longer to shave in the morning but she knows it's worth it. I get a nice smooth shave and she gets a nice smooth cheek to kiss!! It's a win win for her and I.

I wanted to shave like my great-grandfather but most of all it gives me great enjoyment to take the razor, hone it and give yourself a very satisfying and smooth shave.

Thanked: 240I equate using a straight to using a fountain pen, yes they have ball points but writing with them doesn't look nearly as nice, yes disposables are quicker/easier but the shave is lacking. As I have no ability to learn calligraphy straight razor shaving was perfect for me. I also like knowing that I can walk into almost any room and be the only person there that shaved with a single unprotected blade that morning.

Thanked: 7I enjoy shaving with a straight razor because Monday morning before i head off to work if i feel like just ending it i can...one quick slash and its all over safety razors can't do that.. lol Jk... I love not having to pay 50 dollars for some crappy razor heads that feels like sandpaper on my face after a week of use.. plus in the long run i spend nearly 180 dollars a year on razor blades i prefer to spend 180 on a beautiful piece of steel

If I can put an incredibly sharp blade to my throat each morning and survive unscathed, the rest of my day is a breeze. It's the manly way to shave.

Thanked: 443I suspect there are people who spend years learning to meditate so they can experience the level of focus and clarity we achieve every time we shave with a straight.
