Cool Back in the Saddle Again

Well I'm Back in the saddle again and started shaving with a straight again this weekend almost forgot how good it is. was down for 18 months due to getting hit by an IED in Iraq and made a mess of my left side and not helping being left handed for sure. but all is good and just recently moved to the El Paso Texas area. SO if there is anybody out this way drop me a line and lets see about hooking up. Just glad to be back and glad to be done doing tours in war torn countries now I just get to train the soldiers here at Ft. Bliss

    Thumbs up

    First of all, Welcome Back!

I am so sorry for your injury and pray for your recovery. We do appreciate your service and sacrifice for your country and for your fellow Americans.

I wish you good luck on developing your razor skills with your non-dominant hand. With practice you should do well. A lot of people here on SRP use their non- dominant hand as well as their dominant hand in their straight razor shaves.

Since you are in El Paso, make sure you go to La Mesilla and Las Cruces (New Mexico) and try the Mexican food. New Mexico chilies from Hatch are the best in the world.

Wishing you the best of success! Happy Shaving!

Welcome back. Thank You for serving our great country. Just about 250 miles east on 62/180 from you. We go down there from time to time to visit my daughter, son-in-law and grandsons. Just getting started with straights and so far not to bad only a couple nicks. Hopefully getting back will be like riding a bike and you'll be getting great shaves. Take care and once again Thank You for your service.

Hello, havin2muchfun: The important point to remember is that you came home. It is obvious The Universe is on your side. The rest of the stuff is secondary. What's more, life requires much improvisation. Here's your chance to put it to practice. Little by little you'll develop a new style. Listen, you came out of a war alive. Next to that, shaving with your non-dominant hand should be a piece of cake. Welcome back, my good man.

    havin2muchfun,

I am overjoyed that you are now back home and pray that you will continue to mend.

I couldn't agree more with Obie. The Universe is indeed on your side.

Rest assured that we are all supporting you.

    Take care--and continued smooth shaving.

Welcome back and thanks for your service.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

"Thank You" feels very inadequate to offer to a servicemember who has bled & suffered the long road of recovery, but Thanks anyway, from a brother vet. You're in my thoughts & prayers. Hang in there!

Would like to thank all for their replies for sure and just taking my time getting back into the swing of things but I'm determined to use my southpaw great old habits are hard to break so far so good though LOL just a few nicks here and there but nothing serious and find myself concentrating a little harder on it now just to make sure. but looks like now Im going to have to send my razor to a honemiester cause I having issues doing it myself and dont want to screw my good ones up. Think I am going to buy a junk one just so I can practice and practice even more LOL.
Lynn send me a personal with your sons POC info and Ill look him up. right now staying in a hotel here until 1 sept when my house will come available so there isnt a whole lot to do but go to work and then back to the hotel
And again I appreciate evrybodies vote of confidence it helps for sure cause God Knows I was scared to pick it up again for a while there but they said I wouldnt be able to walk again just had to show them how wrong they were LOL and had to prove to myself I could shave with a real razor again too and doing that too too old to give up or give it up I guess
