Thanked: 17Congratulate me - first full Straight shave
Bit of history, picked up wet shaving back at Christmas with a DE. Started with a straight in February but was only able to do WTG and part of the XTG. Never could get the angles and such for doing the rest. Frustrated the crap out of me.
Fast forward and I took a restoration project, taped up the blade, and started trying out the hand holds and such to work out the angles and methods of attack. Things started to click and finally today I was able to do ATG on my face and neck. No blood loss and definitely a DFS. The cheeks were BBS while the neck was not too bad at all (always a trouble spot).
I'm very excited. Unfortunately this success has triggered my RAD. Must hit some antique stores soon. LOL
Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement.

Hello, Charlie, and congratulations on your shave. Please remember that BBS is not everything. Some faces cannot even handle BBS. What's important is to get a good shave while enjoying the full ritual of wet shaving with the straight razor. Well done, sir.

Thanked: 17Thanks for the encouragement. I almost always get BBS on the face with the combo of the straight and the safety. Never get BBS on the neck, if I try too much then I have a true "redneck" all day.
I was so happy with the results today, the shave was very close to what I had been getting. Little bit of touch up here and there and I'll be there.

Charlie, CONGRATULATIONS!! Persistence does pay off. Don't worry about not getting an an all over baby's bottom shave. It will come if you stick with it and it's that important to you. Even to some of us old timers, the price is sometimes just too high (too much time and too much irritation). After 30 some years, I am most often satisfied that the bottom of my chin and jawline look clean shaven.
Ya done good!

From one Tennessean to another, congratulations on your first full shave. Keep up the good work. I find it only gets more enjoyable as you become more comfortable with your technique.
P.S. I understand the RAD addiction!
