    Default Conditioner

Normally, after a shower, I wash my face with soap and water and then hot towel for 3 minites and then apply lather. This morning I tried something different and it worked pretty good, so I wonder how many other guys have tried this.

Washed my face and usual but then I rubbed hair conditioner onto my beard for about a minute, and then the hot towel.

Soften the beard really well and my Timor just glided across my face. I used classic shaving unsented soap.

    It was nice.

I have heard people use their wives' conditioners (secretly, of course) with good results but have not tried this myself.

Such an approach would seem to work well. However, for me straight razor shaving is like a ritual. Hair conditioner does not have a role in that ritual right now.

Since I am fairly open minded, I'll try hair conditioner these days and report on my results. I am pretty sure it'll be ok, but using a relatively new, highly commercial, non-shaving related, and -gasp- 'feminine' product in my routine, which is based on a (vintage, quite often) straight, brush, and hard soap does not excite me much.

    Cheers

    I thought you were single?

Anyway, I don't see anything wrong with it, so please don't get offended or something. As I said, I'll be trying this myself. I have very soft hair and never use conditioner on my head, but my beard is more coarse so I think it'll work fine, as far as shaving goes. I just don't feel it belongs in my routine (which might change)

As it is, my wife is already giving me lots of crap for buying and using skin toners, various shave soaps, creams, AS balms, etc. She is really used to my designer stubble, loves how it looks and feels and my new obsession is very weird for her. She has outright stated she suspects I pretend to hang around SRP and actually have an Internet affair or something (One of our friends divorced recently due to an Internet affair) Lately, whenever she sees me at the computer at home she gives me the evil eye

    Cheers

i use the conditioner stuff in the shower the wife buys for her hair, on my beard everytime before i shave. it works fine, i wash my face then i put on some hair conditioner..leave it on as i wash my hair..then wash it all off and get out the shower then shave.

hair conditioner works fine for me. OH, i did fine that one time she bought this expensive conditioner shit for colour dyed hair and when i used it my neck started to burn a bit during the shave and after a week of being miserable i figured out it was the new conditioner she bought. so i went back to using the cheaper stuff (think its salon selectives or gariene fruictice shit that i use now) and it works great without irritation.

figured a new preshave conditioner would just be another "shaving thing" she would start bitchin about..so i saved the 12$ of buying one and instead bought myself some Art Of Shaving - Lavender cream to use instead she still bitched about the cream but i let her smell it as i shaved, she loved it....then i told her that so would the ladies at work ...then i went back to finish my shave.

Well here's my situation... I had to take out a student loan and it came out to about $37,000 all told. Therefore I live with my mom. We don't really bump horns (especially since she does lots of work abroad and dates a guy who's an hour away from here) and we look out for each other, so all told it's a convenient arrangement that allows me to pay off my loan within a couple of years instead of a decade. She uses a hair conditioner from time to time, so I get to use hers whenever I shower before shaving. She exacts her revenge by using my hair wax lol.

    Default Good therapy

Yea, I'm going through a seperation and found that our little hobby is great therapy. Anyway, If it makes anyone feel better, Redkin makes a conditioner for men. That's what the bottle says.

It's probably the same stuff but in different packaging but it does say "For Men"

My hair is too short for that -- just long enough to prove that I have a full head of hair and always will lol. Therefore, just a quick wash with H&S is more than enough for my conditioning needs.
