Feather SS Update
I’ve had an opportunity to use the Feather SS and as promised here is an update on the experience.
My prep was exactly the same as normal.
Shaved standing at sink.
Proraso Pre/Post
Proraso Green Tub Shave Soap
Proraso AS/Balm
Feather SS with Super Pro Blade.
The first thing I noticed was the blade extension with the Super Pro; it is about 1.5mm, about 3 times the blade extension of the Parker!
I found that shaving with the Feather is, as just about everyone who has written a review says, simply amazing.
I had deliberately left my beard on and had 4 full days growth.
The feather simply wiped the bristles off, think of using a squeegee to take water from a window and you’ll get the idea.
The Feather blades are ridiculously sharp, even compared to DE feather blades, so much so that during my WTG pass I managed to take the blade from the bottom of my bottom lip to my Adams apple in one go, this is something I have never been able to do before with my Parker/Feather or EJ89L/Feather.
I did unfortunately give myself a pinhead sized nick on my chin during this process, but to be fair, this was down to my technique as this was the only time I have ever done this and will probably be the last.
The problem is that the Feather is so sharp and so easy to manoeuvre it sort of inspired me to try it, however from now on I will stick to my normal XTG system for my chin and moustache areas.
I did 2 passes, WTG and ATG and got as close a shave as I have ever had, I would go as far as to say that If I had taken the time to do some touch up’s on the difficult to shave smooth (for me) areas around my lower neck this could have been my closest shave ever.
The shave was smooth, not as smooth as my EJ89/Feather but I am aware that the majority of DX/SS users say that it takes until the 2nd or 3rd shave before the blade starts to shine so I am keeping an open mind.
Verdict:
Very smooth shave (BBS).
No irritation or rash
No redness cuts or nicks, other than the one I done myself.
Very easy to use and did not feel as though it was going to bite or catch me at any time, far easier and much more comfortable to use than the Parker Shavette.
Therefore I am a very satisfied Feather SS user and I look forward to many years of close comfortable shaves from it!

I myself took delivery of the Feather Artist club SS last week, I have already used the razor twice, and agree with everything you said about that razor, I gave myself two small nicks just under my nose, I will also be giving myself XTG next time rather than WTG around my moustache, I also have a Feather AS-D1 and only use a Feather blade for 98% of my shaving, and you are right in saying these blades in the Feather SS are ridiculously sharp. Very good review. PS, would you really expect anything else from a Japanese razor manufacturer who produce the worlds sharpest blade?
Jamie.

Hi celticcrusader,
Where did you get that snazzy blade disposal case; I've never seen those before.
