    Default Today I Learned...

What a finely honed straight razor feels like.

I've been getting really nice shaves, but I got a new razor over the weekend (thanks Dilandry) and it was obviously honed differently than my other blade.

There was zero pulling or tugging and I was almost ready to call it a shave after my first pass WTG.

Needless to say, I'm getting a finishing stone as soon as I can so I can maintain that amazing edge as needed.

A note to newbies, get your razor professionally honed and have a serious look at a finishing stone. It will make a world of difference.

man thats the problem with my razor, im paranoid its my technique but im super fixed on it and super light and it still tugs, It almost glides over the hair and removes random patches, nice razor burn.

Like I said, I was getting nice shaves before, but there was some pulling and tugging. I never get razor burn and I thought it was my technique that was at fault. When I shaved with my new razor today I learned that my technique is actually fine, but the razor has to also do its part.

Yet another reason to have two razors. As a novice, it gives you something to compare to. had I not gotten a second razor, i might have gone on like this for who knows how long.
