Thanked: 6Had to happen sometime
Had the best shave ever on Sunday morning, then when stropping afterward, hit the part on the strop where the paddle attaches with the edge, and holding up to the light, noticed a very slight flaw (too slight to be called a nick). Ooops! Anyway, watched the dvd Lynn put out and watched the honing section very carefully..all I have are a 4000/8000 combo Norton stone, but I thought I would give it a go. A little patience with a very light touch on the stone, and the flaw seems to be gone, and confirmed with a pretty good shave. Had to do quite a few passes, but it looks like I might have squeaked out of that predicament. Boy, those edges are delicate!

Thanked: 7If the chip went away on a high grit then it was really minor, unless it took one hell of a lot of time.
Hitting the edge of the strop and the faucet is the main reasons my blades got honed a lot more often then they should have.

Thanked: 6Yes, it wasn pretty minor, but was able to see a slight aberration in a strong light. I did the pyramid procedure about three times with some stropping in between (and carefully) and the edge seems uniform now. Shaved pretty good last night, so I think all is well. Just won an old Bengall wedge on Ebay last night, so we'll see how honing goes with that. I've read the technique is different for wedges, so it should be fun..
