    Default Young guys first shave

My sons buddy has been eyeing my razors and asking a lot of questions about shaving with a straight and I have shaved my son a couple times so they decided they were ready to give it a go. I showed them how to make lather and we got a razor ready and my boys friend Jake stepped up to the plate. He did a really good job and took it slow and with some coaching got most of his face shaved and did a really good job. Missed a little and finished with a DE but it was great fun. They don't have much of a beard but it think that really makes it easier for them to learn. I wish I had that young tight skin. His dad found him a razor, a Simmons Barbers Pet that he brought with him and we cleaned it up and I get to hone it for him, so his next shave in about week he said will be with his own razor. My sons shave is tommorro. I got such a kick out of it I though I would share.

Good stuff, great to hear you're passing the torch on to a younger generation! It's something they'll both fondly look back on for the rest of their lives I'm sure...

Bravo Glenn!! Another one that won't have to worship at the temple of Gillette.

    Keep it up!

I'm sending a beginner's kit out today to a friend in Kali. Once they get a taste of a good shave, its curtains for the cartridges and canned stuff.

Glenn that's a great story. My boys are 4 and 4 months. Teaching them how to shave with a straight razor is one of those things I'm really going to look forward to when they get older.

My son just turned 13. He's watched me shave for years. So I let him select a straight razor from an on-line source, along with a good brush, a mug, and a nice display box with his name enscribed.

He's done fairly well but doesn't have that much to shave yet. He's shaved me and done well with it. I did have to teach him the difference between shaving your own face and shaving another.

He has announced which of my razors he expects to inherit.

You guys are making me jealous. I wish my dad had showed me how to shave. I started with multiblade razors. Used to hate it. So my dad bought me an electric razor. I think I used it once. Few years ago, I discovered the pleasure of using a DE razor and about a month ago, I discovered the pleasure of a straight razor. I am still learning.

I am relatively new to straight shaving and I hope to pass down the knowledge I gain to others. Hearing this story makes me proud that the true art of shaving is being passed down as it should be.
