Developing technique
As I continue re-learn my lost technique I now have adjusted to a two pass method. First being a with the grain pass followed up with a against the grain pass. I still have to touch up around the point area of my chin, but that to is progressing. Luvin it and only getting better. I have imposed a temporary stop to my continued purchasing of more razors, at 30 plus currently with some great shavers.

Congratulations! I've eliminated the chin touch-up by getting most of that area on the WTG pass downwards and the rest of it on the ATG pass upwards.

All about shaving yes. All about dragging it across my face more than is needed no! Last night I did a modified one pass. I thought it might not have been good enough, but for just a casual shave it was great. It's still evolving, work in progress thing. I do enjoy the slow down ritual of shaving though. I have neglected my skin for years, hence the frostbite scars from those years above the artic circle. Now it gets witch hazeled a cream often. Kind of nice though.

I usually do a wtg pass and then a xtg pass, never saw the sense in atg, too time consuming and does little considering the extra trouble.

Thanked: 1195It's all about what your skin can tolerate. In an effor to save time many will do WTG then ATG, while some brave souls will do a single ATG pass. Why not, if you can get away with it. Personally I couldn't - whiskers are too thick and my skin would complain.

My two passes are XTG then ATG. My WTG pass doesn't get much done for me and my skin cannot tollerate a third pass. I know a lot of guys can't do an ATG because of their skin. I consider myself fortunate that I can.
