Default A good shave is even better

When it's your first one with a used razor that you cleaned up and honed yourself

I've been shaving with a couple of good razors bought from the honemeisters here while working on some ebay specials that I picked up for practice honing. My routine until now was to test a self honed razor, put it down in disgust after a couple strokes, and finish with one of the good ones. None of my own honing efforts have been up to snuff until today, when I lathered up and tested my latest attempt on a 5/8 Fritz Bracht Dovo. While not quite as good as the professionally honed ones, it was pretty close and good enough for a very nice shave. Instead of putting this one back down I was able to finish with it and add it to the rotation group when I was done. I don't have a finishing stone yet so have been using the Norton 4000/8000 and polishing with 10 laps on a 0.5 diamond paste paddle.

Lynn mentions this feeling in the shaving DVD and now I know what he's talking about. Since starting all this a few weeks ago I've gone from hating to shave to wishing my whiskers would grow faster.

Yep, its a good feeling. Only managed it once myself mine you.

It's like a meal that you cooked yourself, vegetables grown in you own backyard, sex that you didn't have to pay for...... hand on scratch that last one...

That's what's keeping me in this lifestyle and feeding my RAD. More babies to clean up, hone and enjoy using

Hey, congratulations! Must feel great. I haven't gotten my fixer-upper to the point where I could rip my face up yet, but I'm sure it will come. :-/
