    My girl would like me to have stubble ALL the time - has become a major bone of contention in light of my shaving obsession lol

    I would say Monday to Thursday shaving.
    And let the stubble stand the rest of the weekend, please your wife a bit.
    You benefit from it yourself, I think.

    But ask yourself.... your wife doing things to please you to?

    When there are days that I can not shave I do the back of my neck. Very rewarding!

    It probably a generation thing. "You can't go out looking like that" is my wife's normal reaction to an unshaven face. Of course, when we were younger there were other reasons that not shaving wasn't popular.
    Some ladies love a badass and with designer stubble, you can act out their fantasy. Unless of course you really are a badass, in which case you wouldn't need approval from your wife.

    My girlfriend absolutely loves it when I use the straight on weekends which is our only time together. She puts a smile on my face for doing it her way. Smiles!

    I'm kind of in the same boat. My wife loves me scruffy. She complains that when I shave with my straight, it takes me 4 days to get to where I am at 2 days with a disposable. So we've compromised. I shave my cheeks and chin with with a disposable and my neck with the straight.
