Before:
40-60 Felt
50-75 Leather
After:
10-15 Felt
During:
Sometimes I will do 10-15 on both linen and leather which seems to help a bit.
I normally do 3-4 passes.

I use three strops: Heavy draw(to start), Medium red latigo, and finish with a very slick #1 Horsehide. 46 linen and 100 leather combined.

Thanked: 458For a razor that's been done very nicely on a natural stone, I will strop the razor as it comes off the stone. Often, after that, I won't strop it for a couple of shavings - at all. I will just make sure the razor is dry and put it back in its box. Sometime around shave #3 or 4, depending on how it feels, I will strop it. If i'm only using one razor in a given week, I will touch it up at the end of the week on a japanese natural razor hone and start over.
It is my opinion, and maybe not a popular one, that on a very finely honed edge, the strop itself will put wear on the edge, so there's no great reason to overdo it.

Thanked: 19050 passes on the canvas, 80 passes on the leather. This is done before each shave and I always get a great BBS shave and I shave 6 days per week and work in a professional setting. This works well with the carbon steel blades. For the stainless steel blades, I do 100 passes on the leather instead of 80. Every 30 shaves, 10 passes on the diamond paste 1.0 and 20 passes on the leather. This method keeps them performing well for several months, 4-6.
