Thanked: 0NooB looking for advice, video of shave inside. :)
Hello everyone, I'm a total noob and in it for the long haul. I'v been lurking for a month or so and have been shaving with a straight for around three weeks now. Here's a shave I just did last night, any advice is welcome.
Talking slowed me a little but this hobby is not about speed anyways now is it? It's a long video, just letting you upfront.

Thanks in advance,

Didn't see anything particularly wrong that couldn't be chaulked up to being a beginner. It took me an hour to do a single pass when I first started...these days, it's 15 minutes for 3+ passes. Looks like you're still learning angles and taking your time...nothing wrong with that.

Loks good so far as Red96 said looks like you are still figuring out angles and positioning in the mirror which will get better as you do it! I actually a few times have stood in front of the mirror with a razor and just practiced getting the right positioning to see my self while stretching and it help a TON! As far as razor burn goes its all in the angle and the pressure....good angle and NO pressure=NO BURN! i also noticed that when i did more of a scything motion as opposed to the guillotine style cutting it reduced my razor burn and nicks a HUGE amount!!! Here in the Wiki info on that if you haven't seen it yet...HERE BUT YMMV...keep at it and each shave will get better!!! ALSO i say go for the Handlebar Stache! i didn't have one till about 3 months ago and at first my fiance didn't like it but she has come around and gets a kick out of it now!
PS....in my post i do an Alum Block, then Witch Hazle OR Balm and THEN the Clubman it seems for me to control the redness a bit more but keeps the Clubman scent which SWMBO LOVE!

I'm likely to get banned for saying this, but as soon as I was able to leave "short strokes" behind, I got better shaves in far less time. I think at first it is the safest way to go. But as you get some experience, you'll find that once you have the blade set properly on your face and at the correct angle, bringing it up off your face to reset all that for another stroke causes more problems (and irritation from multiple passes over the same area) as it solves. If you have the blade properly set, you can make a longer stroke and get more done. This may not be a maneuver for Newbies, but it is one way to progress beyond that level.

that didn't look so bad... i never enjoyed the lather from my col conk lime, i might recommend getting something else... i think in time your technique will improve.
as a thought, perhaps your edge is not up to par.. I recently had a shave that made my face very sore off a coticule. it was a shave test for a certain progression and it failed big time... a trip back to that hone for some extra passes proved to be the answer..
