My first ebay find kind of "insulted" me when I first got it back from The Whipped Dog. I guess it saw that I had been shaving with the "sight unseen" razor and got upset. After that first "bite" is has behaved very well... (I guess the sight unseen and the Allentown had a chance to talk in the rack).

The razor clearly has a Borderline Personality Disorder. Get it some treatment.

Most funny thing that now I can't make decent shave with it (yesterday it had passed hht but it worst shave). Today I will try 30 laps on crox then 60 on leather. If it will not help I will try tomorrow 30 laps on DOVO red paste and leather....if not I will try to hone it again on Norton 8000, and again I will try my best with different pastes...so I decided to have 1-2 weeks of experimenting with this razor during everyday shave. If nothing will help I will take it to local hone-master (I didn't trust our Postal service to send this razor abroad). Now it's really don't funny, jokes aside, I'm worried that I can ruin such a expensive (for me) razor, and I really disappointed that I can't make great shave with her.

So I just shaved with this razor again it was a lot better, more clean, but still it was rough shave and I have irritation and razor burns. As my skin didn't recover completely after yesterday fight I will take short pause till Sunday and then will try my luck again

Thanked: 3I have the same sort of problem with a 6/8 Giessen & Forsthoff. Bought it in the US for some reason 2/3rd of the price to be paid in Germany. The razor does not obay me. I don't manage to hone/strop the razor to the point that it is able to give me a smooth close shave. All the others (from (B)reidohr to (W)ade & Butcher and the brands with a first capital letter in the alphabet between the B and W that I own, from near wedge to full hollow) perfom the way they are to do.
And the problem is that I won't give up. The G & F is a razor that keeps on challenging me. I'trying to tame the thing more often than once a week. I'll strop it until I drop. When the latter happens I'll strip the blonde horn scales, bury the steel in my yard in order to dig it up it up a few years later and sell it to an antique vendor as a rusty cultural heirloom. I would't dare to let it lose on Ebay.

I'm almost challenged my razor! But I'm already hone it 3 times! Yesterday I had very clean shave. Shave still was a little rough during WTG but during ATG it was completely perfect. So I decided to give razor good stropping and try it on Sunday (I will have 3 day stubble) otherwise I will negotiate with local honing-master to present during his work, I really want to know what he do to razor what I can't.
BTW during my last 2 honing sessions I'm also had thinking to throw this razor out of my 14-th floor apartment window... but it's present from my wife
