Default Sensitive skin + coarse beard. Is shaving with a straight everday possible?

    Hi fellas,

    As the title states!

I've been at it for a week, although I've shaved in the past for a short period of time. I'm determined this time. Liek really determined to make it work.

How many of you with the above condition, shave everyday.

    Thanks!

I do just about daily. I have sensitive skin, course beard too. It's possible with practice, perseverance, and a sharp razor. .

I have really abrasion sensitive skin and a super thick coarse beard. I find shaving every other day works our best for me. The second day still has no really visible stubble and gives my neck time to heal.

The question is like someone saying, you mean at one time people got around without automobiles, they used horses? Considering at one time straights were the only way to shave and most shaved every day your question was answered long long ago.

    Thanks guys,

I guess it has already been answered. I think I'm looking for motivation, after the first week of shaves. Not terrible shaves, almost nick free and relatively close, but at a price. I'm very comfortable with the DE, although I've found this is a very different beast.

The allure of the feather AC still appeals to me because of its consistency, but any diposable blade straight just lacks spirit in my oppinion. Although I'm still wondering if it'd work better for me. I find I just need a wicked sharp blade to limit the pressure I have to use.

    I'll keep at it!

    Ryan,
I think you will have to find what works for you. I too have very sensitive skin and a coarse beard ( The grays are even tougher...lol) I shave every day, for me, shaving with a straight is the only way this is possible. When I used any other method, it was at most every other day. Experiment to find out what your face will tolerate, as your experience grows, it only gets better.
    Regards,
    Joe

You may find, that, with time and closer shaves, a every other shave is all that is needed.

I bought a non-folding Feather SS and it shaves like a dream. Very sharp and very maneuverable. Now I have at least 1 of each, straights, safety razors, GEM razors, Shavettes. They all seems to have pluses of their own.
