Don't ask me how I did this.... which I guess explains itself doesn't it: not paying enough attention! Sorry for the poor iPhone pic.

Thanks, everyone who's posted pics. Very interesting pattern, I think, in that most of these cuts are below the sideburn, where it' supposedly easiest to shave. Another permutation of the "most traffic accidents happen near your home" observation. Let's be safe out there! But, failing that, keep your cameras handy!
My razor and I disagreed about soap today! Now I have 3 small cuts and won't try canned goo again!:soapbox:Attachment 101276
Good idea! I'll have to try that one myself. :)
Here's mine. I shaved first thing that morning. Then took this photo after a power that night. It was my first shave with my Dovo Shavette.
WOW! Now I recall why I stopped bringing a straight to the gym. Somebody almost bumped me in mid pass and suddenly I realized how stupid it is to shave in a crowded space. That could have been me when I jumped a little having been startled at how close the guy came to my arm...
These are old...and the result of a dare:thinking:. Someone bet I could not shave with my every day carry knife. So like an idiot...I did...Dry:gaah:
Stupid, but heck, it is my first (non introduction) post so what the heck;)

My first real cut.:-/http://img.tapatalk.com/d97a599f-4077-a759.jpg
Kalerolf--nice one! That's a good tag of skin you got lifted, man! I bet we missed some good flow in the earliest moments. That's such a hard question: first aid first, or photo first? Now that I keep a camera by the sink, my goal (?) is photo first. Blood flow is nature's crud-flushing mechanism, after all. And there's nothing in the bathroom that'd hold a stain. Not since I had to get rid of that mat in front of the sink, anyway.
Thanks for sharing.
I'm assuming you're a marine, so my response is How did you end up marrying a woman who can't stand to see you get a little dinged up? You guys train with real knives, don't you?
Yep, most stories behind these pics involve regrets about hurrying, or letting the mind wander. I shave at night so I always have time, and the focus is like my nightly meditation.
Best wishes to you.

Anything worth doing is worth doing twice;)
Lemme guess...spike point?
Yes, but technique/angle was the cause. The point really has not given me much problem.
I have much to learn...sometimes one cut fails to teach the lesson adequately;)
From a couple years ago...

Aye, that's the spirit! Tis but a scratch! Pain is just your body's way of helping you remember and learn, the blood just flushes out any crap that might have gotten into the cut.
red96sta--nice! I've got a collection of scars right in that same place. It's a wonder I've still got that ear.
ROUGHKYPE nominated these pictures I posted under a seperate thread yesterday. He thought they would appropriately fit under this category. The wound was NOT a result of "shaving" but a shaving-related task; I was checking the edge of a razor after honing. I was using an eye loupe, which I now painfully realize may not be the best choice. Cheap attempt at humor, forgive me.
ANYWAY... the loupe fell from my eye and when I reached to catch it with my free hand I found the razor's edge with my pinky finger instead. Just to clarify, reaching for the falling eye loupe was stricly an invlountary reaction!
The pictures are out of focus, they were taken with my cell phone, in the emergency room. I almost never use camera on my phone and the staff weren't exactly there for a photo shoot. They did find the details leading up to the injury funny though.
Someone suggested pictures of the sutures also but the wound site is currently wrapped. I will get in-focus pics this afternoon to add to these. For now enjoy...

Much better focus this time! Is it me or does it look like the cut is not very smooth? To me, it looks rather jagged. It was an extremely clean cut and burned/hurt worse than any cut I have ever had previously! It should make a memorable scar. Enjoy. I am told it doesn't count unless there were at least 10 stitches so I gues this one only counts as a scratch.:(
Yes, you should definitely post stitch pics when you can :)

Less than 10 stitches don't count!

Poor BJ's face looked like a softball.
I just got a little queasy....awl man! :gaah:
In the words of the immortal King of Rock-N-Roll; Thank You, Thank you vury much!
I can honestly say I hope this is one championship I hope never to lose. Not because I am afraid of being dethroned; I just would not wish a worse injury on anyone.
The stitches come out in 10 days. I'll try to remember to update the pictures if it leaves a nice scar.
Old Soldier, that is one fine set of stitches! Looks like you had a good go at whittling that bit of your finger off. Good thing there was a bone in there to slow your progress. Best wishes for uneventful healing.
Definitely beats mine & I had blood dripping off my chin. Didn't take a pic though, so I guess it doesn't count anyway! You'll definitely have a friendly reminder from now on how bad natural reactions can be :)
Ahhh but looks can be deceiving! As bad as the cut looks, it isn't all that deep, THANK GOD! The seamster was even a little taken aback once it was numb and he could begin "handling" it; he spread the incision to determine the appropriate amount of neddle point to close it and found I had only managed to get through all the dermis and about 1/4 the fatty tissue.
That mouthful being said, good thing there was a bone in there to slow the progress indeed! It could very easily have been much worse. I was almost sure I found bone with all the blood that managed to find it's way out!
