I tried but lost the receipt with the bag; lost my security deposit of dignity when I had to tell them what happened. :(
"WHOA! Black Betty! Bamalam!"
Crap, forgot my spoons and washboard at home! :gaah:
It's not bad, but here is the result of this afternoon's shave. The old wound is from a few months ago. I figured it was lonely, so I gave him a friend...
I've been at this for a while. But, once in a while, stupidity wins. I don't normally shave at two in the morning, but I wanted to try out some new shave cream. If you've been shaving, you know what I mean, when I say, you know before you cut yourself before you do it. Putting down the blade, wrong angle, and not moving, I knew what I would get. Got frustrated, did it again. I remembered this thread, wiped the Musco Real off, found my camera and took a picture. Sorry Maple, not enough blood, but, for a change I'll add the razor involved in the act.

This is my favorite razor, she'll bite you, if you aren't paying attention. But, I love her. F A Clauberg, beautiful gal.
Just shaving along and WHAM! out of no where this ear jumped out at me. I didnt have time to swerver or brake. Crazy ear! What was it thinking???Attachment 109797
Proud to add a picture to this thread. Got this yesterday, which was my first day shaving with a straight edge.
I call it "Lesson 1".

Looks like that'll leave a reminder! Nothing like a lasting lesson.
Terrible photo, but trust me....it was a bad one!
I felt every mm of it...and somehow, I kept on going down and through my ear. Attachment 109826
OK, lots of activity here this week. Er... way to go, guys, um, keep it up...
I'm curious to see some healing--swerve and johnnycakeDC put up some gnarly finger wounds this month, can you guys show how those have healed up? Swerve, did you get to keep the end of your thumb?
Thanks for sharing, everyone.
Attachment 110236 First SR shave yielded my first good one. Surprisingly, not from an area that had me scared, which is probably why I cut myself.

Third straight razor shave was going VERY well, then came the blood! As you can see I did the rest of my face just fine, I just have to practice around my lip area!!
Thanks to you newer guys for sharing! Just remember what they say, practice makes scar tissue.
The first time I shaved with a Straight and I got my self pretty good. I thought it was really bad but I flipped through this thread and a few times I was shocked.

Got myself good tonight. Wasnt pulling my skin tight and my skin rolled a bit with too much pressure on the blade and.........

When shaving close to the mirror, the earlobe area seems to be out of range for good binocular vision. You're seeing it mostly out of one eye, so depth-perception is poor.
Also, for me that is where I begin shaving. I've cut my earlobe a couple of times now and in addition to the depth-perception thing, I think it may have something to do with not yet "being in the groove" when taking the first couple of strokes.
Well guys, I'm in my 2nd month of shaving with a straight here and just gave myself my first real gash - I've nicked myself a few times, but no real cuts.
I was using a Pipe razor with a barber notch for the first time and nicked myself with the lower edge of the notch. I guess I was a little spoiled by my Boker King Cutter that has a round point and got in the bad habit of rotating my hand away from my face...hence, the gash!

Anyways, many thanks to tylerbrycen for cleaning and honing this razor for me! Also, apologies if this picture is sideways as all of my photos have uploaded sideways
If that's the first real on in two months you are doing great! I have been shaving with a straight about that long and i've had quite a few of those!
Hopefully it will be the last...until I try a spike :D I already know that will draw some blood - I'm guessing by the ear as many before me have had that experience, but you never know!
My first shave with a straight pointed blade resulted in this. Still have some practicing to do with my left hand!! :)

Ok so its not a ahaving cut, but I did it with a straight. I am in the process of cleaning up a frameback and was sanding away and got myself pretty good, its about an 1/8" deep and almost an 1" long, under my thumb nail too. Im pretty sure it cannot be stiched so super glue is on its way. Check it out!!Attachment 112087 Sorry no blood in this one had to get it to stop before I took the pic

Got this one a few weeks ago. First cut since I bought my first real straight over a year ago!
This had better not jinx me for tomorrow's shave.
