It's been too long...
for a lot of things shave related. I haven't posted for ages, I had 3 weeks holiday using a DE and all my straights are in need of honing. Getting back from holiday and shaving with a straight again was pure bliss even with the need of a hone. So last night I got the stones out and did a vintage Boker King Cutter that was gifted to me by Uncle for making him some carving knives. I'm really looking forward to using this tonight. I also honed a finest silver steel made in Sheffield that was gifted to me by another mate recently. Lucky or what!
The DE performed well on holiday and my choice of cream was Truefitt & Hill Rose followed by 444 and Brute. I scored a puck of William's soap for old time's sake and a bottle of Aqua Velva original sport. It's always nice using the T&H as it's one of my all time favorites but not having the choice of many creams, soaps and aftershaves got old after a week or two. I have to say the only thing I was looking forward to when I got home was shaving properly again and it sure was rewarding...
Two razors down and many more to go to get my rotation back to it's former glory. It was great listening to music and getting into that zen like state on the stones in the kitchen. I've been far too busy recently sharpening knives I've made to get enjoyment out of it, it's such a refreshing change to slow down and do razors for myself again. Good stuff. Not much of a post but I thought I'd share my excitement at getting back in the groove again. Next holiday will involve a straight and a strop for sure! Happy shaving...
