Learn with both hands. If you ever feel like growing any kind of beard it becomes amazingly easy to make sure the lines for the beard are even.
Shaving with facial hair is like a golfcourse. It's a challenge of rough and fairways. You are the skilled greenskeeper of your face?

I guess that I'm lucky in that I've always been fairly ambidexterous in whatever I do. I tried to do a one handed shave with a straight once and nearly lost a finger while stretching the skin.

Yes, i have always found that im pretty comfortable when it comes to switching hands in most other things. i played alot of sports, mostly lacrosse, so i was always pushed to play with both hands which has made me fairly ambidextrous. So im hoping this wont be too different.

Thanked: 220I have trained myself to shave with both hands right from the get-go, left for left, right for right. I found a good way to help become ambidextrous with shaving is to practice while brushing your teeth. I don't know about you gents, but I have brushed my teeth with my dominant hand since I was a kid, it's just natural. If you have, it's surprisingly awkward to switch hands, and practicing this is a safe way to teach your non-dominant hand some new muscle memory.

Hi Tyler,
That off hand worried me too. It seemed like every time I got the razor in it, left for me, and I looked in the mirror that up became down, right was left and the stupid left hand wouldn't listen to me. Just go really slow and easy. In a very short time my left hand became the most proficient and still is. Kind of like it didn't have any bad habits to get over. I think you'll find that you'll master it much quicker and easier than you think, especially being young and an athlete to boot. I did it in my 60's, so you otta-rock!! Good Luck!!!
Regards,
Howard

Thanked: 8I am basically a lefty (writing, eating) but do a few things with my right (shooting). So, tho it was a bit uncomfortable, when I took up SR8shaving I used left for left, right for right. Quite natural now. One possible benefit from shaving this way (actually, SR8 shaving at all) is that brains thrive on learning new tasks using non-dominant hands and new fine motor skills. Put that down for just one more reason to shave this way.

Like you, I forced myself to use both hands from the onset. I was surprised just how quickly my non-dominant hand came up to speed. It is very comfortable for me to use both now, and the shave is as good on one as the other.
