did i forget everything?
I don't know what was going on this evening during my shave but it started i couldn't seem to get a good lather at all, even with my srd Vetiver which usually whips up really easy. Then i give myself a nice slice right above the corner of my mouth, it was like slow motion, i watched the blade digg in and......slice. It was right at the end of my second pass so i just quit right there. Did decide to go with floid blue just to get some good out of the shave lol. Ok just wanted to vent a bit

Ouch!
Amazing how those slices can sneak up on you when you least expect it, isn't it? I went through a spell a few months ago where it seemed like I was just cutting the bejeebus out of my chin about every third shave. It was ridiculous. For me I think I figured out that it was a time of increased stress and pressures both at work and in much of the rest of my life, and I simply wasn't taking the time and respecting the process as I normally do. Trying a bunch of different razors probably didn't help the situation, but ultimately I think I was letting my attention slip for just that little moment it takes for the blade to bite and for things to go a little sideways.
Here's hoping tomorrow's is smoother!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I think we all have these type of shaves at one point or another. All you can do is heal up and get back on the horse.

Thanked: 2Those are the moments when the band just stops playing, the forks all clank on the plates at the same time and vinyl record has the needle ripped across it.
I find that when I dig into my face, its usually become at some point I went on auto pilot. Not in a arrogant "I got this" kind of way, but just not paying as much attention as I should have. And when that focus shifts away, usually only precious moments later do I feel that noted sting in the face and the puddle of red to re-focus my undivided attention to the surgical steel I'm holding to my throat. One thing I will say is that I think somewhere in the deep recesses of the memory banks of our minds, these little slip ups teach us a lesson to sub-consciously be aware of certain areas and certain movements because I've been shaving and not even thinking about my last mishap and then gotten close to that area and had one of those "note to self" moments like "yo..watch it right here." It's a constant learning process.
As for the lather - I have those days too and I've been doing this for years. I'm cursed with insanely hard water where I live, so it happens from time to time where I just make this frothy watery gruel in my mug. Solution: pour out and start fresh. There's no penalties for mulligans in this game.
Hang in there. Like others said, wipe the blood off the lip, knock off the dust and get back on the horse.

It's like flying an airplane. Sometimes you are about to land and you just get a feeling something ain't right and the smart aviator chooses to go around. I know when I shave if things seem amiss I go for the DE and leave the straight until next time.

It was thankfully at the end of the shave, so i was still good for the morning and didn't have to shave today, give it a day to heal. But I'm sure I'll open it back up tomorrow lol. Just wish i didn't have to shave every day. But going with the floid blue was nice and really the only good part of the shave lol

It's all good, everyone has those moments...I blame it on the brain farts
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.
