Default First proper Straight Shave ! (so much for waiting)

So the toronto boys meet up was a great time, I was lucky to have Maxi ready one of my blades right there on the spot so i could bring it home and use it while my sheffy was being worked on

was going to wait till tomorrow or monday to bank some nice stubble to shave with,... but well,... you know how waiting goes, I washed my face with warm water and a cleanser, let a towel sit on my face for about a minute with some thick lather under it ( dont usually do this but figured it couldnt hurt), then lathered up some Calani Dubai soap, a german soap that makes for an exceptional shave, one of my best soaps in the collection

once all the prep work was done i clasped my Blade and gave a north south stroke or to with my strong hand on that side and had fantastic first time out results,.. swtiched hands to the other side, was trouble free but left quite a bit of stubble behind, will blame this on angle here,
dropped to the neck and had more then a little bit of inconsistant everything's but didnt hurt myself and was blood drop free through it all

since there was no harm in it i relathered and passed north south again to get a little more feeling for the way the razor was held,... more so for my weaker hand,... got two nicks,.. but cold water took care of them, they were small indeed and my off side cheek was now where it should have been after the first pass felt much better with the blade and had some more confidence.

Re Lathered up and tried a south north pass cheek on strong side again good results, off side okay but not great, and neck and chin area still a bit of a struggle but didnt hurt myself, since i dont have to work till tuesday i left things alone here,... my cheeks were a good shave looked okay felt okay little hairs here and there to the touch, but in the mirror, it looked good,... the neck was almost "work" passable but not quite there.

With a second shave monday ill see where im at then ! with more times out and more confidence can only get better and better

Im on happy Boy at the moment !

Finished off my Shave with the Veg,... this deserved nothing less lmao !

Lol I was a little surprised actually i was a little to excited to do it, but i figured waiting would only compound THAT problem i took my time and didnt have the highest of expectations so im happy for sure

It was a quote from an old teammate. It seems to fit in this forum quite well, though.

LOL. So I did pretty much the exact same thing as you. I waited until today, but I did a full shave with the straight today. First time ever using a straight, got a couple of small nicks but all cleaned up with a little cold water. Old Spice AS didn't hurt as much as it has when I've DE'd (and WAY less than when I used to cart!) so I guess I was doing something right. It sucks though, now I need to get a strop and more razors 'cause you can't have just one...

I was a bit dumb though as I changed two things this shave - I used that Orange and Jasmine RazoRock and my face felt dry, both during the shave (starting with the second pass) and afterwards. I think you're right about it, I think it was sold before it was really ready. I'm going to try the straight again in a couple of days with my trusty Proraso and see what happens then. If I'm still dry it's obviously not the soap, but my technique or my face just not liking the straight (which I can't see as I've had multiple professional straight shaves and never had a problem!).

Nice meeting you, Nate, Eric, Jason, and everyone else yesterday!

    Cheers,

    M.

I had the same trouble with that TFS, thats why i couldnt use it lol but for me i figured it out on my hand first as i test lather new products before using them for a shave lol,... But it should have calmed down by now given the time ive had it so it may have more to do with the ingrediants then its settling time after being made,...

Glad you liked it too I did my second shave with mine today got much better results,.. i could have gone to work with the shave i did my hand is feeling much more comfortable with them blade in hand then when i started the first time

Im a happy guy, and enjoying my time in the bathroom, much like when I started with my DEs,... or even way back with my old wilkonson cart, remember those red ones with the pivot head and the little metal safety bars running across the blades lmao,.. i taught myself to shave with that thing, pressed as hard as i could going against the grain aww to have the mighty skin of a 14 year old

But i to am at a stand still untill i can get my hands on a good chunk-o-leather
i hate waiting for new credit cards i need something now !!! lol

and am already growing impatient for my other blade good grief this is going to be a wait and a half,... im 1 day into a 5 week waiting time lmao im doomed
