read it all, and then go back and read "Loading the Blade Pressure" and "Stropping Issues" until you're sure you understand what should be happening.

There should be enough pressure _on the spine_ to bend the strop. There should be enough pressure _on the edge_ to keep it in contact with the strop, but not so much that the strop bends around the edge.
