Default Be careful what u say

I have been shaving with a straight for about a month and a half now. When I bought my first razor I got all excited to shave with it, but it needed to be honed so I sent it out. While I waited for it to come back I went out and bought all of the accessories I would need. I got A badger hair brush, some soap, ordered a strop, and bought a styptic pencil to stem all the bleeding I was sure to cause. When my razor came back I could not wait I had 4 days of stubble I was saving just for this day. To my surprise the first shave went off with out a hitch "or a nick". I was a little disappointed with my ability to get as close as i would like on the bottom of my chin but after my second and third shave I got better and still no nicks. Then I did it! I proclaimed my mastery of the skill I have developed. Gave that white pencil still in its unopened package a look and stated out loud "looks like I won't be needing you"! Then proceeded to give my self a 1" slice right on the curve where my cheek becomes my chin. I was humbled
So to all you newbies out there heed my warning the second you think "I got this" pay respect to your equipment because as I have already learned it will bite back.

Nicely said..I think of it as an art..and this art is not mastered quite so easily. I will definitely be the first to admit that it can teach you humility very quickly.

Honestly, it won't matter how long you use them, at some point they'll bite back lol!
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Yes, after years of straight shaving, I still have the old stick. It looks like a stalagtite as I have used it a few times and set it on the shelf in my medicine cabinet to dry. I have not had to use it in ages, but one must know it is there!
    You might slip up someday!

    I rest my case.
