Thread: The Wife's First Shave!!!!!!!

After shaving with a straight for a few months now, I finally convinced her to give it a go. No she's not bearded! So cruised the bay until I found this 'cute' little 4/8 blade that is nice and light, slightly rounded tang and in NOS condition for $14.

I whipped up some uberlather and after she was done in the shower, she let me soap her up. She actually liked the boar hair over the badger, go figure (so far me too).

Anyhow, it took her about 15 minutes to do both legs, front and back. Needless to say she LOVED it! She's got issues with her skin; she calls it 'chicken skin'. It feels like she's always got goosebumps on her legs.

I think I have her hooked!!!

Any tips for where to get 'womens' straight shaving product? I'd like to get her some nice girly soap and some other stuff!

When you have the time check out HoneyBee Spa soaps. The soaps are great, Lots of different scents. The price is also reasonable. The Victorian Rose soap smells amazing, my girlfriend loves the way it smells. Give it a try

Well.... after spending a total of about $600 on.... 20 or so razors and a 3 pack of the welsh slate stones plus trading my old handycam for a filarmonica dt #13 and an azuma yasuki steel kamisori, she wanted to know what the fuss was about. Plus, after EVERY shave I apparentely make her feel my face...So like I said, without her knowing, I bought one for her, cleaned it up, honed it, and suggested she should give it a try.

DO NOT be sneaky.... Just make sure it is a classy photo appropriate for all to see. Get her permission and suggestions. That way, she will not be horrified when the pic from SRP ends up on facebook.

That's awesome man. She probably has whats known as KP or KPR keratosis pilaris and keratosis pilaris rubris. It's basically where new collagen tissue and epithelial cells (skin) forms before the old skin cells die off and are shed which leaves little bumps like goose bumps that can turn red. I have this on my arms and legs, and a little on my cheeks (not bad), but multi blade razors will irritate the crap out of this condition, thus why I switched to DE's and straights, b/c after shaving my face would be fire engine red and the bumps would get harder and more pronounced. She can also use a lotion w/ glycolic or lactic acid (amlactin at all the big box stores) to help slough off and smooth the skin as well. It is usually worse in dry winter conditions as well. It's not harmful only cosmetic, the only good thing about it is that cuts and scrapes heal quicker than the average person. Check out prairie creations and get her some nice d.r. lavender and rose for the lady I bet she would go nuts for the aftershave. All in all she will now understand your obsession
