When I started I had a quarter hollow and a wedge that were my only shavers for quite some time.
When I bought my first full hollow I was really surprised by how noisy it was and I didn't like it, now I've gotten used to it and do like the sound.

This effect has actually helped me a number of times. I have had some inconsistent power over the last year or two and have had to learn how to shave with little to no light. I discovered that when I had light there were distinctive changes in the sound according to how well I was shaving. The first couple of times I shaved with a lantern and did surprisingly well. The last time I had the power go out it happened while I was in the middle of my first pass. I finished AND did a second pass before the wife appeared with a light. It felt amazing knowing that I could do it. That being said, I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. It can be scary.

I love the sound my DOVO prima klang makes when shaving. This straight is an extra full hollow ground one.
As I have never used other types of straight razors yet I cannot tell from experience how different they are.

Haha. I wasn't referring of course to pitch, but to crackle! The burring sound from an extra hollow ground is closer to a chain saw than a bird song.
